Do You Take My Insurance?
The answer is almost certainly “yes”. Unless your policy states that you must see a specific panel of providers, we can help you get the appropriate benefits from your plan when you receive treatment from our office. We are not a participating provider for specific insurance plans; so, we are open to all patients regardless of insurance benefits. Some insurance companies will tell you that you must see a dentist on their list of providers, yet, usually you are free to choose a provider with minimal restrictions. Insurance benefits may vary from provider to provider, though it has been our experience that these amounts are minimal in most cases. There are exceptions, so be careful. You may even be paying more by going to a “network” dentist. (See “Nine Reasons You May Be Paying More At Your HMO Plan Dentist”
We try very hard to treat your mouth when you come and to resist the ever-present pressure to treat your dental insurance policy. Limiting your treatment to your insurance benefits can be dangerous to your health. Not merely detrimental to the length of time you keep your teeth. Our goal is to save you money. And, we can almost always do this, but sometimes that involves spending some this year to save you vastly more in the years to come. (See “How is Dental Insurance Different From Medical Insurance)
Dental Insurance cannot hope to pay for years of neglect. You would not wait while your house was on fire and halfway burned down and they try to buy a fire insurance policy would you? NO! You would call the fire department and ask how much it cost later. To keep you from having to settle for 18th century dentistry if you have let your teeth deteriorate for years, you will need to use a source to supplement your dental insurance.
