My Insurance does not cover Recommended X-rays.  Why?

Almost all dental benefit plans are the result of a contract between an employer and an insurance company. Therefore, If you feel your dental plan is not the product you thought it was, ask your plan sponsor or your Human Resources Department at work.

Limitations in coverage are the result of the financial commitment your employer has agreed to make and the benefits the insurance company will offer in exchange for that commitment.

Treatment decisions must be made by you and your dentist. While dental benefit coverage should be taken into account, it should not be a deciding factor in your choice of treatment.

The schedule of needing x-rays at periodic visits varies according to your age, risk for dental disease, the amount of restorations you have, and signs and symptoms.  New films may be needed to detect new cavities, or to determine the status of gum disease or for the evaluation of growth and development.

Children may need x-ray exams more often than adults because their teeth and jaws are developing and because their teeth are more likely to be affected by dental decay than most adults.  Primary teeth are small and even a small area of decay between the teeth can cause big problems if not detected early enough.

We are your professionals regarding dental care. We want to keep you free of dental problems. Insurance companies are not trained in the field of dentistry, we are.
