Inhalation Sedation Through Nitrous Oxide Gas

Inhalation sedation, laughing gas, relative analgesia, happy gas, gas, nitrous, nitrous oxide, N2O-O2… this one has more names than any other sedation technique! And deservedly so. Inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide (N2O) and oxygen (O2) has been described as “representing the most nearly ‘ideal’ clinical sedative circumstance.”After five minutes or so of breathing in the gas, you should feel an euphoric feeling spread throughout your body. It really kind of feels like a ‘happy drunk’ feeling. Some people find that there are auditory or visual effects as well. You will feel a bit light headed and often people get ‘the giggles’ (hence the name laughing gas!).  It has no color, smell, and doesn’t irritate.  And, the best part…you can drive home yourself!  Breathing pure oxygen will clear your lungs of the chemicals and you are no longer under the effects. We offer nitrous oxide (happy gas) to any patient who asks for it FREE of charge.  We understand that dentistry may be stressful and we want you to the happiest you can be here.

If your present dentist charges separately for nitrous, call us today. We never charge extra for our patients’ comfort.
